Yukiko Stranger-Galey writes stories that celebrate the wonder and diversity of the world we live in.

She is currently settled in Vancouver, but at various points in her life she has lived in London, Edinburgh, Seoul, Chicago, and Kobe. These experiences, coupled with her Japanese-English cultural background, lead her to weave threads of richness and emotional authenticity throughout her writing.

Her training in scientific research, her work as the curator of a natural history museum, and her passion for science communication lend expertise to her writings that explore biodiversity and sustainability. She particularly delights in engaging readers with the unusual and overlooked stories of the natural world.

Yukiko’s exhibitions have been recognized with multiple awards for their innovation, storytelling, and sustainability, and she is the recipient of the 2019 Governor General of Canada’s History Award for Excellence in Museums: History Alive!

The opportunity to share the stories of the people, organisms, and objects in our world inspires her every day.
